Preparation of M9 Media for YYC912

Yale Stock Centre Strain YYC912

1M MgSO4, 10ml

MgSO4x7H20 has a molecular weight of FW 246.48.

  1. To make 1M in one litre of water add 246.48g powder and increase volume by adding water to 1 litre.
  2. To make 1M in 10ml of water add (246.48g)/(1000ml/10ml) = 246.48g / 100 = 2.47g powder and increase volume by adding water to 10ml.

1M CaCl2, 10ml

CaClx6H2O has a molecular weight of FW 219.08.

  1. To make 1M in one litre of water add 219.08g powder and increase volume by adding water to 1litre.
  2. To make 1M in 10ml of water add (219.08g)/(1000ml/10ml) =219.08g / 100 = 2.19g powder and increase volume by adding water to 10ml

10% Casamino Acids
