Objective Today's experiment consists on creating a zein protein film. This film is a biodegradable one and has many applications, especially in the food industry. Protocol Prepare 10ml of a 90%EtOH solution (9ml EtOH + 1ml H2O) Separately, add 1g zein + 0,24ml glycérol Complete with the 90%EtOH solution to reach 10ml Put 5g of this solution in a 9 cm diameter plastic Petri dish Heat at 40°C for 24 h Results After 24hours in the oven, we obtained a thin, flexible, yellow protein film. We observed it under the microscope.
