Solutions for use with IC and/or AA

Obtained fresh DI water (16.6 MΩ) for use in all solutions

  1. 1 L 1 mM NaHCO3/3.2 mM Na2CO3
    • 0.08391 g NaHCO3
    • 0.33732 g Na2CO3
    • For use as IC mobile phase
    • should be prepared fresh on day of use
  2. 1 L 20 ppm SO42- as Na2SO4
    • Rinsed flask with conc. HCl (20 mL for 10 min, swirling & tilting)
    • (Note: Chromic acid cleans glass best, but toxicity limits use)
    • Rinsed copiously with DI water
    • Dried in oven 90 min at 110°C
    • Dried ~ 1 g Na2SO4 in oven 90 min at 110°C
    • Cooled salt & flask 20 min to room temperature
    • 0.02963 g Na2SO4 (20.00 ppm SO42-, 9.58 ppm Na+)
