Oscilloscope lab day 1

setup: I started by plugging in the BK precision wave generator and tektronix digital oscilloscope to the 115v power strip. I then used a BNC cable to connect the output of the wave generator to ch1 on the oscilloscope.

After some trial and error and help from Mr. Koch I was able to make the following measurements

A sin wave:

  • Using the screen: Amplitude 5.6V Frequency 1cycle per 5ms or 200Hz
  • Using the cursors: Amplitude 5.76V Frequency 5ms or 200Hz
  • Using the measure functions: Amplitude 5.76V Frequency 200.2Hz

A higher amplitude sin wave:

  • Using the screen: Amplitude 22V Frequency 1cycle per 3.4ms or 290Hz
  • Using the cursors: Amplitude 22V Frequency 3.320ms or 301.2Hz
  • Using the measure functions: Amplitude 22.2V Frequency 301.6Hz

A low amplitude sin wave:

  • Using the screen: Amplitude 3.8V Frequency 1cycle per 3.6ms or 280Hz
  • Using the cursors: Amplitude 3.80V Frequency 3.560ms or 280.9Hz
  • Using the measure functions: Amplitude 3.80V Frequency 281.8Hz
