Day 3: Testing the presence of nanoparticles

  • Today is day 3 and from the amino acids that we analyzed Glutamine, Leucine (gold ring), Aspartate (complete color change), Proline, Methionine, Histidine, and Glutamic Acid had gold nanoparticles present and we are testing for the presence of gold nanoparticles by using different concentrations of gold within both Tryptophan and Aspartate since from previous results we found they produce gold nanoparticles in better quantities than the other amino acids. So for tryptophan the concentrations of gold were 0.0009 (sample 1), 0.0015 (sample 2), 0.0023 (sample 3), 0.0030 (sample 4), 0.0037 (sample 5), 0.0045 (sample 6), 0.0053 (sample 7), 0.0059 (sample 8), 0.0066 (sample 9) and 0.0074 (sample 10). In addition to this each test tube or sample had approximately 1.2mg of Tryptophan in it. As for Aspartate the concentrations of gold were 0.0009 (sample 1), 0.0021 (sample 2), 0.0029 (sample 3), 0.0041 (sample 4), 0.0050 (sample 5), 0.0062 (sample 6), 0.0071 (sample 7), 0.079 (sample 8), 0.0090 (sample 9) and 0.0101 (sample 10). In addition to this each test tube or sample had approximately 1.2mg of Aspartate in it. We then put these samples into the oven so that they could be tested using UV tomorrow. The samples were in the oven for 4 hours and at a temperature of 80 degrees F.
