Synthesis of AuNP-Lysozyme Fibers

Stock solutions

Au solution

  1. MW Au = 339.79 g/mol
  2. Mass Au used = 50.44 mg = 0.05044 g
  3. Moles of Au = 1.484*10^-4 mol Au
  4. Volume of solution = 50 mL = 0.050 L
  5. Concentration = 0.00297 mol/L Au

Lysozyme solution

  1. MW = 14307 g/mol
  2. Mass lysozyme used = 30.65 mg = 0.03065 g
  3. Volume of solution = 100 mL = 0.100 L
  4. Moles of lysozyme = 2.142*10^-6 mol lysozyme
  5. Concentration = 4.285*10^-5 mol/L lysozyme

Preparation of reaction components for 1 mL samples

Target concentration of Au = 0.25 mM

  1. Volume needed = 0.594 L

Target concentration of lysozyme 5.556 μM.

  1. Volume needed = 0.771 L

Reaction volumes for 1 mL samples

  1. Volume of gold stock: 84.4 μL
  2. Volume of protein stock: 259 μL
  3. Volume of water: 656 μL
