Tasks for October 22

  • To analyse films in Bisphenol A (BPA)
  • To finish film synthesis from Oct. 17
  • To finish measuring density of films (Reported on 17/10 Notebook entry)

Completion of film synthesis

Placed film in sodium sulfate, 1% HCl and sodium bicarbonate.

Measuring absorbance of films in BPA

  • Soaked PVA-Clay polymer films in 10.4 ppm BPA and allowed to soak for a determined amount of time ( two scintillation vials for each time slot), after which time films were removed to avoid further absorption of PBA.

  • Note that the 10.4 ppm BPA solution was made by James and Eleni
      • James measured out 10.4 mg of BPA and dissolved in 5 mL of methanol, then diluted to 1 L with distilled water.
