Tasks for January 28

  • To determine the size and concentration of Gold/Lysozyme nanoparticles from UV/vis spectra

Determination of size and concentration of Gold/Lys nanoparticles

  • Followed method described by Wolfgang Heiss et al.
  • Measured highest peak absorbance and divided by absorbance at 450 nm to get a ratio that can be compared to tabulated values. Then matched diameter with tabulated molar absorptivity value. Found concentration using the following equation:
    • c=A450450
    • UV/Vis wavelength range: 400-800 nm

It was found that the average concentration of the colloidal AuNPs is 11.59 nM. It will be assumed that the fibers have the same concentration
