Project Description/Abstract

  • We propose to use the luminescent properties of the metal-organic frameworks to image the catalytic and liquid exchange mechanism of the MOFs. The luminescence of a given MOF will change, either in luminescent lifetime or by spectral shift, when a guest molecule, is present in the MOF. The luminescent can be produced by the guest molecule, the ligand or the metal center. Extensive research has occurred on gas absorption into metal organic frameworks but less has been done to probe liquid and solution-based reactions.
