Project Description/Abstract

  • Bison Serology: Post Anthrax Vaccination
  • After an anthrax outbreak in Montana in 2008, Advantage Bio Consultants was hired to provide vaccination methodologies and serology monitoring in free-range bison to protect herds from naturally occurring anthrax infections.

The project started in September 2008 in Bozeman Montana and will finish in September 2009. The project is on target and resultsd have been promising.

Notes

  • Bison immunology is relatively unstudied. Researchers say they are like cattle. THEY ARE NOT. Their immune response to anthrax is very different. Also their IgM to IgG shift is much later in the immune response.
