Background

Hi, I'm a second year grad student in the Microbiology Program. I'm originally from southern NJ (before you think anything negative, be aware that NJ has more diners and movie theaters per capita than any other state and is over 45% forested) and went to undergrad at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh majoring in Biological Sciences.

Current Research

I'm currently working in the lab of Dr. Janelle Thompson (Course 1 faculty member) using the sea anemone Nematostella vectensis as a model system for studying host-microbe interactions within corals. I've also been doing some comparative genomics of the anemone microbial symbionts, sequenced using next-generation technologies.
