Day 6

  • Goals
    • Prepare hemoglobin-magnetite solutions at the new ratios in the oven for comparison to the ones made of BSA. The BSA- Magnetite reaction mixtures at these ratios appeared to have more fiber like precipitates.
    • UV-Vis the samples prepared on Yesterday
    • Separate out the magnetite nanoparticles/ fibers using a magnet from the solutions prepared Yesterday for future use in FTIR and XRD analysis
    • Analyze the magnetite nanoparticles/ fibers separated Yesterday using FTIR.

Procedure

  • We prepared the stock solutions of FeSO4*7H2O ,KNO3, and KOH in the same method and at the same concentrations as prepared on February 4. The same hemoglobin stock solution as made yesterday was used.
  • We made the following ten ratios for the oven method. the same procedure as used on 1/29
