Objectives

  • Acetylate PVOH (MW 22000). The protocol was based on the acetylation carried out on 2012/11/09.
  • Soak films in CuSO4 and NaSO4 solutions for ISE.

Acetylation of PVOH to Make PVAc

  • Three solutions of PVOH and acetic acid (HAc) were prepared at the following mole percentages of HAc to PVOH: 20%, 40%, 60%, and 100%.
  • 5-DTAF was added to each solution such that the dye would react with 0.01% of the hydroxide groups of PVOH.
