Objectives

  • Synthesize poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) from PVOH.

  • Prepare sodium bicarbonate standard solution for titration.

Sodium Bicarbonate Standard Solution

  • 200 mL of 0.1 M sodium bicarbonate and 1 M potassium pthalate were prepared.
    • Please refer to Moira Esson's entry for the PVOH film preparation protocol and actual masses of compounds.
  • Note that the sodium bicarbonate solution was standardized to determine its actual concentration.
