To remake the films containing maleic acid.

  1. One film was made containing 0.5251 g PVA (MW = 22,000) and 0.0507 g maleic acid, with 3 drops of HCl in 5 mL water.
  2. Another film was made containing 0.5009 g PVA (MW = 22,000) and 0.0540 g maleic acid with 3 drops of H2PO4.
  3. The two gel mixtures were allowed to stir until the PVA completely dissolved.
  4. The gel solutions were then poured into a small dish and the water was allowed to evaporate.
