To make a Tris buffer, prepare the BSA control, and prepare additional gold nanoparticles solutions and purple fibers.


  1. The BSA control was prepared by mixing 1 mL BSA, 1 mL of 2.84 M HCl, and 8 mL water. The reaction was placed in an oven set to 80°C for 2 hours.
  2. Gold nanoparticle solutions and purple fibers were prepared using the same procedure as February 1.
  3. 250 mL of a 50 mM Tris buffer was prepared by mixing 3.512 mL 0.948 M HCl with 1.514 g Tris in a 250 mL volumetric flask.


  • The pH of the Tris buffer was measured to be 8.73.
