Illinois Tools

U of I is proud to introduce the 2010 International Genetically Engineered Machines team. In the progressive spirit of iGEM, the 2010 UIUC Software Team is building a novel, web-based program to design a plasmid, which utilizes last year's project, IMPtools, to design the plasmid off of the planned metabolic process.

The UIUC iGEM Software Team, while still in its second year of existence, already has an award from 2009 for best software. Last year, the software team worked on IMPtools (Interactive Metabolic Pathway Tools), which calculated the best possible reaction route for a metabolic process. Working with this legacy provides motivation for the team, as we get closer and closer to the competition. <html> </div> <div id="uicontentbox"> <table><tr> <td width="35%"><strong>Position</strong></td><td width="30%"><strong>Name</strong></td><td width="35%"><strong>Email</strong></td></tr> <tr><td>Administrative Director</td><td>Colin Hoffman</td><td><a href="mailto:colin.hoffman48@gmail.com">colin.hoffman48@gmail.com</a></td></tr> <tr><td>Science Director</td><td>Jeremy Kemball</td><td><a href="mailto:kemball@illinois.edu">kemball@illinois.edu</a></td></tr> <tr><td>Technical Director</td><td>Anna Kropornicka</td><td><a href="mailto:akpror2@illinois.edu">akpror2@illinois.edu</a></td></tr> <tr><td>Lead Developer</td><td>Bobak Hadidi</td><td><a href="mailto:bobak.hadidi@gmail.com">bobak.hadidi@gmail.com</a></td></tr> </table> </div> <div id="uicontentbox"> </html> Advisors:

iGEM Competition Requirements

The requirements to earn a Gold Mousepad, in addition to the Silver Mousepad requirements, are:

1. Help another iGEM team by, for example, analyzing a Part, debugging a Device, or modeling or simulating a System.

2. Develop and document a new technical standard that supports the (i) design of BioBrick Parts or Devices, or (ii) construction of BioBrick Parts or Devices, or (iii) characterization of BioBrick Parts or Devices, or (iv) analysis, modeling, and simulation of BioBrick Parts or Devices, or (v) sharing of BioBrick Parts or Devices, either via physical DNA or as information via the internet.

3. Outline and detail a new approach to an issue of Human Practice in synthetic biology as it relates to your project, such as safety, security, ethics, or ownership, sharing, and innovation. <html> </div> </html>
