Outreach

Today we held our public engagement event at the forum in Norwich city centre. six members of our team attended the event which lasted all day. There were flags in maps of Europe and Norfolk to highlight where we had received soil samples from and freebies of pens, sweets and general science information. We had various posters and leaflets to explain about iGEM and our project.
The main attraction was biscuit decorating, which involved recreating a petri dish of bacteria on a biscuit using icing and sweets. We could then explain to the children and their parents about Streptomycesand antibiotic resistance. It was a very successful event with alot of interest.
