Gel Electrophoresis of PCR samples Gt.2 and Gt.3 and PCR of samples Gt.5-2

  • Today we ran a gel using the PCR samples from last Thursday (Gt.2 and Gt.3). The gel was unsuccessful because the only samples that showed up were the positive control and the ladder. Also, we ran a PCR using 8 samples Gt.5-2 with a range of annealing temperatures from 47-54 degrees Celsius. When setting up the PCR, we used 2µl DNA. For next time, we will run a gel of these samples. If the gel is unsuccessful again, we may perform one more DNA extraction using chelex as well as rethink options for our project.
