Convolution

This program seems to be working. There are still little quirks that make it difficult to use but not impossible. For what i want it'll work fine. I made some movies and tested the tracking and it seemed to do fine. I need to get the prefactor for the Airy Disc smear correct as well as the maximum intensity of that airy disc, but other than that this seems to do a good job.

Steve Koch 22:34, 10 February 2010 (EST):That was pretty cool seeing that simulated movies tracked well, and to see what level of intrinsic noise there is. Very close to having a platform for really testing out your software and producing some figures for the paper. For example one plot could be uncertainty in speed versus number of frames. Could have a few curves, for different amount of pixel noise, etc. (Should add that idea to the mindmap for the paper.

Also, we can talk about ways for putting snapshots of software into your notebook. Perhaps, by "save as...development" to the webpub somewhere?)

TheLarry 22:51, 10 February 2010 (EST): yeah we should definitely add it to the mindmap. I'll do that in a second. Yeah we need to make a list of types of graphs to make. The convolution program still needs some work but i can do that in time. The only concern i have is all the movies i made the tracking was always low. 2.49, 2.48. This could be because of low sample size though and i wouldn't put stock into it till we make more graphs. Also the area information which Andy and I thought would lead us to know the length of the microtubule was way off.

Steve Koch 22:57, 10 February 2010 (EST): Is the mindmap public? Yes, I think so. So, we can embed in your notebook whenever we mention it. I noticed it always low too -- I also think I noticed it was keeping a couple end points in the window, this will always bias it low. If it's a curved path, too much smoothing will also make it low (because it cuts corners)

TheLarry 23:07, 10 February 2010 (EST): Mindmap is annoying to use at home. i have to keep hitting tab to actually get it to make a new node. I don't know what that deal is but it gets kind of annoying. Won't stop me from using it at home though. It would be pretty cool to have a labview clip like mind meister has to go back and see how it evolves. To make graphs we'll need a lot of created movies so probably after san fran i should put some time into make that program way better. but it would be a strong section of the paper.

Steve Koch 23:16, 10 February 2010 (EST): I have that tab issue too. I have to wait a couple seconds after editing a node. Happens for me all the time on the laptop, but my firefox in general freezes a lot.
