Objective Attempt to synthesize a Terbium Nitrate variant of the Desired POM. Protocol Added 1.6072 of Potassium precursor to 40 mL of DI water. Added 0.8698 g of Terbium Nitrate pentahydrate to 20 mL of DI water. Combined the two solutions above and adjusted the pH to 3.5 using 1 M NaOH. Refluxed for 2 hours at 80 °C Cooled solution to room temperature Filtered solution and collected both precipitate and filtrate. Kept filtrate covered over the weekend and left the precipitate to air dry. Observations Initial solutions were clear and colorless, but upon mixing, a white precipitate formed and the solution became cloudy with (what is likely) suspended solid.
