Objective

Samples for group A

Make samples using the stock solutions I prepped yesterday.


Stock solutions for groups B and C experiments

Make stock solutions of lysozyme and myoglobin for experiments

Description

Samples for group A

Solutions were added to glass test tubes, covered with aluminum foil, and placed in an oven (set to 80°C) for 4 hours.

  1. Lysozyme
    1. 8.88 mg of lysozyme with water in 10.0 mL volumetric flask
    2. MW = 14307 g/mol
    3. concentration = 62.1 μM
  2. Myoglobin
    1. 13.71 mg of myoglobin with water in 10.0 mL volumetric flask
    2. MW = 16951 g/mol
    3. concentration = 80.9 μM
  3. AuCl3
    1. 12.6 mg of AuCl3 with water in 10.0 mL volumetric flask
    2. MW = 303.3 g/mol
    3. concentration = 4.17 mM


Instructions for making samples for kinetics experiments

  1. pH 4
    1. Lysozyme: 0.25mM Au, 12.5μM Lysozyme, 3mL total
      1. 225 μL AuCl3
      2. 300 μL 1M HCl
      3. 604 μL Lysozyme
      4. 1871 μL Water
    2. Myoglobin: 0.25mM Au, 12.5μM Myoglobin, 3mL total
      1. 225 μL AuCl3
      2. 300 μL 1M HCl
      3. 464 μL Myoglobin
      4. 1871 μL Water
