October 29, 2014 Procedures Polymer Bead Synthesis Goal: form beads that don't crosslink with each other 1.0015 g PVA, 0.1099 g Clay, 7 mL 1 M HCl and mix until dissolved Add 500 uL glutaraldehyde, mix for 3 minutes Drop solution into 200 mL acetone in 600 mL beaker Did not work 1.9930 g PVA, 0.1050 g clay, 4 mL 1 M HCL and mix until dissolved and volume is reduced (to get a high concentration as possible) Drop 1 mL solution into hexane Formed spheres for ~2 seconds before falling apart Combine 1 mL solution with 50 uL glutaraldehyde Solution too thick to stir Data
