OBJECTIVES

  • Begin fluorescence detection through pressure testing analysis of microsphere samples (new modifications & better results)
  • Continue to run DSC sample analysis on microsphere samples previously prepared on 3/29/13
  • Continue to remove excess oil from microsphere samples prepared on 03/29/13
  • Wash microspheres prepared on 03/29/13 with hexanes
  • Dry microsphere samples rinsed with hexanes in preparation for DSC and X-ray
  • Make films containing both clay and PVOH variations to run X-ray analysis

Notes

  • On 04/05/13, the DSC instrument lost contact or communication with the computer; therefore, microsphere samples originally prepared on 04/03/13 were incorrectly run and analyzed.
  • Therefore, all microsphere samples placed in the DSC on 04/03/13 were re-run over the weekend -- no results could be collected.
