Objective Set up a new reaction Description Oxidation of Styrene 20mL of Toluene was placed in a 50mL round bottom flask with .6mg of Au fibers. The solution was heated to 100°C in a mineral oil bath Once heated, 1.38mL of Styrene was added and the round bottom was attached to a condenser. The reaction was allowed to run for 15hrs Data 0.61mg of Au fibers Notes Toluene in an oil bath will boil quickly. If not watched the Toluene will completely boil out.
