TheLarry 18:59, 14 November 2009 (EST):Is there a difference between the H20 and D20 picture on your motivation?

  • Andy Maloney 19:24, 14 November 2009 (EST): Yes, the molecules are colored differently for heavy and light water. The point being that it is supposed to show the need for water to hydrate the microtubule when a motor domain comes off of the MT.

19:05, 14 November 2009 (EST): In the Kinesin cycle part you say, "we do know that the rear motor will not swing forward until an ATP binds to the front motor." This isn't a known yet. Block's last paper said that the head can't bind without ATP in the bound head. I am not sure if you found a paper that i didn't see or i am mixed up on it but i am still under the assumption that the head step is still debated if it is tied to ATP binding or not. This is nit picking i know.

Andy Maloney 19:22, 14 November 2009 (EST): Eh, I am tired of this and have gotten to the point where I'm not thinking clearly. Thanks. You are right and I will fix it.

  • I changed the sentence:
    • "The exact steps kinesin takes to complete this cycle is still debated, however, we do know that the rear motor will not swing forward until an ATP binds to the front motor." to..
      • The exact steps kinesin takes to complete this cycle is still debated, however, it is thought that the motor not attached to the microtubule will not rebind to it, to take a step, until an ATP binds to the attached motor.

TheLarry 19:34, 14 November 2009 (EST): That's perfect.
