We utilise Twitter as a means of maintaining day to day communication and passing on notices. The Twitter account isisbio_general is logged onto from a series of clients on computers in the lab. The password is the building name followed by the room phone number. If you are logged onto this account you can send a short message.

To receive messages, follow the following steps.

  1. Get yourself a twitter account if you don't already have one (got to [twitter.com] and register there
  2. In account settings (top right) choose the device tab and then add your mobile number. Turn device updating on. There is no need to give your mobile number to anyone else
  3. Go back to the main screen and search for isisbio_general to find the lab account
  4. Choose to 'follow' that account and once you have done that, set device updates to 'on'

Now when someone sends an update from this account, everyone will receive a text message. If you reply to the text message then this will appear as a reply to the lab account which will come up on the desktop clients.
