Questions

  • How will we pick a project idea out of the many?

Summary of Activities

The day followed the scheduled timetable. The introduction to a suggested part was followed by active suggestions on how to characterize and model the part. The review paper "Genetic parts to programme bacteria" by C. Voigt was presented during the journal club. This provided insight into the biological mechanisms that can be used in synthetic biology. A feedback session discussed how to conduct an effective jounal club. In the Biobricks & Registry tutorial, the team learnt about the resources available and how to add a part. Two brainstorming sessions involved the team splitting into smaller groups for discussion before coming back together to present their project ideas to each other. In addition, each of us took on a role in one or more of the following sub-teams:

  • Tech team - Alex, Jerry, Lucas
  • Admin team - Cheuk, Dirk, James, Maira, Peixuan
  • Media cell - Anthony, Cheuk
  • Branding (temp) - Ben, Dirk, Lucas
