Project Description/AbstractSynthetic Biology seeks to use information biologists have learned about genetic code and its expression to control and create man-made machines for various purposes. This field has specifically been focused in genetic sequence replacements, mutations, and expression. I want to start to apply principle of engineering and synthetic biology with the scientific knowledge of epigenetic functionality of DNA to a useful end. Presently, I am considering ways to mimic computation at the epigenetic level using histone tail modifications to express or repress effective gene sequences. Also, I'm interested in in vitro assembly of chromatin. NotesThis project is also purposed to be partial completion of a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering. | |
