- Bacterial biofilm provides resistance mechanisms against widely used antimicrobial strategies. This project aims to assess the penetration of biodegradable nanopolymers such as poly(ethylene-glycol) into bacterial biofilm. This project also aims to determine the effects of basic parameters, such as growth medium and temperature, incubation time and cell numbers, on biofilm formation by clinically important bacteria including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli. Bacterial biofilms will be grown and exposed to biodegradable nanopolymers labeled with fluorescence. The penetration will be monitored using fluorescence microscopy.
