Education

Research Interests

I am interested in applying culture-independent approaches to study the metabolic capabilities and in situ activities of different microbial communities in the oceans. By comparing gene expression profiles (at the mRNA level) from different marine microbial samples, I am hoping to better understand the interactions within microbial communities as well those between microbes and their ambient environmental conditions.

Conferences & Courses participated

  • ASLO 2005 Aquatic Sciences Meeting, Salt Lake City, Utah
  • The Agouron Hawaii Summer Course--"Microbial Oceanography: Genomes to Biomes", 2006, Univ. of Hawaii at Manoa
