Welcome to the Single Molecule Biophysics group at UCLA!

Our group applies cutting-edge techniques from fluorescence to studying what is (of course, arguably) life's most important class of molecules: proteins. Proteins are life's workhorse, and they have a hand in doing just about anything significant that happens in living organisms. Protein are responsible for the replication of DNA, they are the engines of metabolic pathways, and more generally, a class of proteins called "enzymes" are absolutely vital to catalyze biochemical reactions necessary for life.
