hi there, you might want to consider using the naming convention: 'Hoatlin:Lab members' instead of just "Lab members", the advantage is that if you start all the names of your lab pages with "Hoatlin:" you can take advatage of the "De-wikify" feature of the site. For instance if you go to http://knight.openwetware.org, and compare it to http://openwetware.org/wiki/knight you'll see what I mean. Any page you browse to from there that starts with "Knight:" will remain de-wikied. Labs like this feature since it makes a more "presentable" frontpage to the world for their site (you can of course still edit the site via the wiki).

I got it, glad youre enjoying the wiki - its been a great tool for us as well. also, you can also post messages directly on a user's userpage, e.g. User talk:Jasonk, then the user gets a little notice letting them know someone has left them a message. ill help you move those pages over for the de-wikifying, i just moved 'Publications' as an example. hi maureen, yeah you and your lab could just use the wiki for your interaction with the website. However, if you wanted to give out a link to an external party that would provide a more "professional"-looking site (e.g. doesn't have wiki stuff on the side/top) - you could just give them the URL: http://hoatlin.openwetware.org,and they probbaly wouldn't even realize it was a wiki. of course if they come upon the site via OWW they would see the wiki version. Both are still published to the web. jason

OK, love it. I will add link advertising openwetware in the de-wiki version. I am hoping to attract my fellow Fanconi workers who are scattered around the world. Just found out how to get text to appear when moused over!! -M
