I'm glad that you were able to identify one species, but what happened with the other sequence? You should tie the one that was identified back to the table from the bacteria lab. Which sample was it? Was it grown on a tet or non-tet plate? Did your gram stain result match what is known about that species? Also, you should include a reference for the information that you did find about the species.

3/6/2015 I'm glad that you were able to identify one species, but what happened with the other sequence? You should tie the one that was identified back to the table from the bacteria lab. Which sample was it? Was it grown on a tet or non-tet plate? Did your gram stain result match what is known about that species? Also, you should include a reference for the information that you did find about the species.

Vert lab - Very good. How lucky that you saw a bald eagle! The photos in the last row of your food web are sort of difficult to identify, so you might want to modify that for the lab report. I have to think about how you should combine images of your own and images from the web for your report. I'll let you know in class.

Invert lab - Excellent. LS

2/12/2015 Your methods were well-written and your table was good. I liked that you gave some identification for the plant in your table. For the lab report, you should try to identify the genus - or at least common name - type of plant. The lab manual did ask for that, even though there wasn't a spot for it in the table. Also, you are missing information about Fungi sporangia and what makes the Rhizopus a fungus. LS

2/6/2015 Excellent! Your table about the bacteria was very nice, and I liked that you included how many you saw at what magnification. In the first paragraph, I think you meant to say that you would NOT expect to see Archaea. LS

1/30/2015 What you wrote was complete and to the point. However, you needed to include lengths of the protists using the ocular ruler and drawings or pictures. You also should have included the serial dilution procedure. LS

1/26/2015 Very nice table, and you covered all of the sections well. Please move the most recent post to the top (1/25 above 1/21).
