3/6/2015 The entry started out well, but you need to provide more information about the identified bacteria and compare it to the observations you made back in lab 3. Was it from a tet-plate, and is it known to be antibiotic-resistant? Is it gram + or -, and does the cell and colony morphology that is described in the literature match with what you found? LS

Vert lab - I'm glad you included all of the organisms that we've studied in your food web. Remember, though, that bacteria are not protists (Paramecium, etc). Some of your protists may eat bacteria or they may eat plants, so you should look that up for your particular species. While it is possible that humans would accidentally eat the bacteria in your transect, they probably don't consciously eat anything, so I don't know if I would include them in the food web. Dogs might be just as likely to eat the birds or squirrels as the insects.

Invert lab - Great job on your transect data. You didn't talk about how the worms' movements related to their body cavities, though. LS

2/15/2015 Nice job, you're just missing the photos/drawings. Also you should have discussed the thought questions about fungi using one of the examples we had on view in the lab. Your tree is a dicot. For your lab report, you should try to identify the genus of plants. 1/26/2015 This is a good start. Under Purpose, you could eliminate or remove the sentences from "These observations...a wall." These are covered in the methods and data sections. I would add a sentence about the overall objective of the transect labs relating to ecosystems (see p. 11 and p. 16 in your lab manual). And don't forget to add your map! LS
