Bio

I recently defended my PhD in systems biology at the Harvard Medical School. My work focused on microbial biofuel production and on studying the course of RNA synthesis, mostly alternative splicing. Prior to Harvard, I attended the Technion Institute of Technology where I majored in Biotechnology Engineering (B.Sc.) while meeting great friends along the way. I grew up in Israel and spent a few childhood years in the states as well. Outside of lab, I like traveling and playing sports, particularly basketball, tennnis, gym, and skiing.

Research Interests

Synthetic Biology I'm interested in using synthetic biology to engineer biosystems with a useful applications. Previously, I harnessed industrially robust microbes to produce energy. This project consisted of engineering a system of both yeast and E. coli that is capable of producing hydrogen from a sugar input.

Systems-level understanding of mRNA metabolism mRNA processing is a fundamental aspect of cell biology, yet its regulation is still poorly understood. I am taking single molecule imaging approach to answer central questions within this field.
