Sept 19 - Film Absorbance of Arsenic and Mercury
Objective
DescriptionFor your Hg and As experiments, you need to have three concentrations: 150ppm, 100ppm, and 50ppm. CalculationsTo make 50, 100, and 150 ppm solutions of Mercury and Arsenic, the following calculations were done. V1*Conc.1=V2*Conc.2 Making 50 mL Hg solutions from Dr. Hartings's 268 ppm Hg stock solution:
Making 50 mL As solutions from 0.0499 M Arsenite solution: Converting from M to ppm: (0.0499 mol Arsenite/L Arsenite)*(74.922 g Arsenic/mol of Arsenite)*(1000 mg Arsenic/1 g Arsenic) = 3738.61 mg/L = 3738.61 ppm
Eleni for prepared the Arsenic solutions.
