Today's research was a more in-depth investigation of the electrochemical properties of the nickel protoporphyrin heme. This research was conducted in order to attain more accurate dilutions that would find concentration values of less than 1.00. The nickel was first prepared using 2.5 micrograms of nickel and 10 mL of DMF. Being too concentrated, 1 mL of the solution was diluted with 10 mL of the DMF. This solution was then used to make the subsequent dilutions: 1 mL, 0.5 mL, 0.25 mL, and 0.10 mL, all diluted with 10 mL DMF. The solutions were then run through a UV spectrometer, with a target concentration value of less than 1.00. The same experiment was then repeated, but with a mixture of DMF and ascorbic acid, more commonly known as Vitamin C.
