Experimental Chemistry

Hydrogels (synthesized on http://openwetware.org/wiki/User:Samiye_Yaman/Notebook/Lab_581/2013/02/06) were sink at the bottom of the beaker. By using sonicator, the hydrogel were separated. After the vacuum filtration, observations under the microscope were made. The hydrogels were placed in to a lyophilizer for 24 hours.

Rest of solution was separated into layers by using separatory funnel. Water was used.

Hydrogels placed in to various pH of HCl (http://openwetware.org/wiki/User:Samiye_Yaman/Notebook/Lab_581/2013/02/08) did not dissolve in any of the pHs.

1)Final mass of PVOH (MW: 146,000)=0.4526g

2)Final mass of PVOH (MW: 130,000)=0.8244g

3)Final mass of PVOH (MW: 89,000-98,000)=0.7608g
