ObjectiveDescriptionSynthesizing PVOH -0.5 g of polvinyl alcohol (MW:22000) was placed in to beaker 1. 3 ml of water was added to the beaker.(Solution 1) -1 g of PVOH (MW:22000) was placed in to beaker 2. 6 ml of water was added to the beaker.(Solution 2) -0.5 g of PVOH (MW:100000) was placed in to beaker 3. 5 ml of water was added to the beaker.(Solution 3) -1g of PVOH (MW:100000) was placed. in to beaker 4. 7 ml of water was added to the beaker.(Solution 4) -All four beakers were placed on to the hot plate for 15 minutes until the solutions become clear. Each solution was then poured in to separate teflon plates. Before letting it dry under the hood, acids drops are added to solutions.
Note: The PVOH in beaker 2 3 and 4 did not fully dissolved. Some stayed at the bottom of the beaker. Using DSC to measure the thermal change of specific films A1- 0.5 g of PVOH (MW:22000)+ 1 drop phosphoric acid (Only 2.57 mg of the film is used) A2- 0.5 g of PVOH (MW:100000) + 1 drop of HCl (Only 2.8 mg of the film is used) A3- 0.5 g of PVOH (MW:22000) (Only 3.22 mg of the film is used) A4- 0.5 g of PVOH (MW:100000) (Only 2.95 mg of the film is used) Data
