Objective

  1. Begin bead synthesis
  2. Determine which method works best to cross link beads

Description

Procedure

  • Weigh out approximately 1.0000g of PVA and 0.1100g of clay
  1. 1.0004g of PVA and 0.1100g of clay
  • This is mixed with 7mL of 10% of HCl. The HCl should not react with the acetone.
  • Using a burette, 70mL of acetone:5mL of of gluteraldehyde are added. Drops of the PVA and clay mixture will be added in order to create beads. The burette will allow a longer time to elapse for the beads to cross link with the gluteraldehyde.
