Run Temperature Trials

  • I came in today and added Rhodamine B to 18 samples such that the 10 mL fiber samples all had Rhodamine B concentrations of 10 μM. See Nicole's notebook from Tuesday for volumes and concentrations used. 9 of these samples were then placed in an ice water bath (0 °C) for 2 hours. The remaining 9 samples were placed in the oven at 60 degrees Celsius for 2 hours.
  • Matt joined me two hours later and we spun down each sample, and pipetted off a 3 mL sample from each to fill cuvettes. UV-Vis spectra were then taken as on March 30th.

Results

  • Data below are both raw and worked up UV-Vis data for 0°C and 60 °C samples:

The image above shows the percent change in Rhodamine B concentration after 2 hours incubating with fibers at 0 degrees Celsius.
