Notes for myself
Day 1
So, I first cleared up a lot of confusion that I had on what equipment was what, and what its functions were. Here is the equipment I used:
2 power supplies:
({1} Model 315 from Bertan Associtates Inc. DC Power Supply: 0-5000V/0-5mA)
({2} Model 6207A Harrison Lab DC Power Supply: 0-200V/0-0.2A)
(Tektronix Oscilloscope DS 1002)
BNC Cables
LCD-? (Polarized)
PMT-? (Polarized)
Tube
NIM Bin NQ-75
nSec Delay model 2058 from Canberra
The {1} is set to 1990 V as for the {2} 150 V
Ch. 2
- 1st measurement
- 100 cm -/+ .1 cm
- 3.12 V -/+ 0.04 V
- 2nd measurement
- 80 cm -/+ .1 cm
- 4.32 V -/+ 0.06 V
- 3rd measurement
- 60 cm -/+ .1 cm
- 6.00 V -/+ .06 V
PMT: Max, then LCD Far & then near; Min, repeat
ch1 connected to the box
ch2 is connected to the PMT
The LCD & PMD are polarized in a way that if you rotate them, the amplitude increases or decreases.
So, my lab partner and I forgot to measure the time.
Everything from this point in parenthesis is from David
(We are following the procedure now. We read in the manual that the HV of the PMT should be between 1800V and 2000V. Since it was already at 1900 V we left it there.
- First Measurment 4 nsec delay
Ruler : 100 cm TAC : 1990V max CH2: 3.12 +/- 0.04V
Ruler : 80 cm TAC : 1990V max CH2: 4.32 +/- 0.06V
Ruler : 60 cm TAC : 1990V max CH2: 6.00 +/- 0.06V
We know how to take the measurements, and next class we will be ready since the start of the class to make plenty of measurments.)
Day 2

We are gonna try some measurments with time delay.

( We are having trouble setting up the oscilloscope. It was already ready, but we moved something and messed it up. Aram and us are trying to fix it know.)
