Objective

Today we are concerned with the cross-linking of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) using maleic acid as the cross-linker, as well as succinic acid

Description

10%WT pva for all FOUR gels

  • 22, 000 MW polyvinlyalcohol
    • 10% Maleic acid: PVA
    • 0.5058g PVA: 0.0502g Maleic acid in 5ml distilled H2O and 3 drops 12M HCl
  • 22, 000 MW polyvinlyalcohol
    • 10% sucinnic: PVA
    • 0.5066g PVA: 0.0501g sucinnic acid in 5ml distilled H2O and 3 drops 12M HCl
  • 22, 000 MW polyvinlyalcohol
    • 10% Maleic acid: PVA
    • 0.5067g PVA: 0.0562g Maleic acid in 5ml distilled H2O and 3 drops 85% H2PO4
  • 22, 000 MW polyvinlyalcohol
    • 10% Sucinnic acid: PVA
    • 0.5014g PVA: 0.0554g Sucinnic acid in 5ml distilled H2O and 3 drops 85% H2PO4
