Objective

Determining viscosity and creating gels with drops of HCL and H2PO4

Description

Viscosity

table1:

Calculations for table 1

  • used MW: 22000g/mole of PVA and dissolved in 20ml of distilled water
    • .4g pva in 20ml water
    • .2g pva in 20ml water
    • .1g pva in 20ml water
    • .04g in 20ml water

table 2:

Calculations for table 2

  • used MW: 130,000 g/mole of PVA in 20ml
  • made a stock solution by 2.02 g of PVA in 100ml diluted to make solutions
    • 1%= diluted 10ml of solution with 10ml
    • .5%= diluted 5ml of solution with 15 ml
    • .2%= diluted 2ml of solution with 18ml
    • .1%= diluted 1 ml of solution with 19ml

Data

  • stock solutions weight remained the same over the week lost nothing
