Objective

  1. Stock Solution Preparation
  2. Prepare Citrate Gold Nanoparticles
  3. Determine Concentration of Citrate AuNPs
  4. Start new reaction with citrate nanoparticles

Description

  1. Stock Solution Preparation
    1. 1% wt HAuCl4
      • Dissolve 0.1201 g HAuCl4 in 10 mL H2O
    2. 38.8 mM Sodium Citrate
      • Dissolve 0.11601 g sodium citrate in 10 mL H2O
    3. 0.075% wt. NaBH4
      • Dissolve 0.00357 g NaBH4 in 5 mL 38.8 mM Sodium Citrate solution that was prepared previously
  2. Citrate Nanoparticles
    1. 90 mL H2O to 100 mL volumetric flask
    2. Add 1 mL 1% wt HAuCl4 and stir for 1 minute
    3. Add 2 mL 38.8 mM Sodium Citrate and stir for 1 minute
    4. Add 1 mL 0.075% wt. NaBH4 and stir for 5 minutes
      • The solution turned a deep burgundy and was stored in a screw top bottle for future use.
  3. The concentration of citrate AuNPs were determined using a method described by Wolfgang Haiss in 'Determination of Size and Concentration of Gold Nanoparticles using UV/vis Spectra'
  4. Begin New Reaction
    • A new reaction was setup and the methods are described on February 24,2015
    • The method was edited by adding 2 mL citrate AuNPs instead of 30:1 Au:Lys NPs
