Purpose

  • To test the absorbance in solutions with various ratio of gold nanoparticles (AU) to BSA (Bovine Serum Albumin)
  • To discover trends in the increase of Au/BSA ratios

Procedure

  • Bovine Serum Albumin stock solution was prepared at 15.806uM.
  • Chloroauric Acid (HAuCl4) stock solution was prepared at 9.862mM.
  • Abigail E. Miller 10:36, 17 September 2012 (EDT):what masses and volumes were used? what are the calculations for those and for determining the dilutions below? these need to be demonstrated atleast once in your notebook and then you can refer back to them when you repeat.
  • BSA and chloroauric acid at the above concentrations was mixed in various amounts and was diluted with sterile water to the proper ratio. See table below for details.

  • 40mL of solution with various Au/BSA ratios were labeled and placed in incubator for four hours at 85°C, and left in room temperature until the following week.
