OBJECTIVES
- Begin X-ray analysis of microsphere samples
- Begin to run DSC sample analysis on hydrogel samples previously prepared on 2/04/13
- Continue making films containing both clay and PVOH variations to run X-ray analysis
- Add H2O to hydrogel samples containing Rhodamine 6G dye in order to run DSC and X-ray analysis (leach out dye before analyses)
DSC Analysis: Mixed Hydrogels
DSC preparation and protocol involving instrumentation and usage can be found on 9/17/12 entry.

Notes
- In regards to microsphere preparations, in order to vortex the new microsphere samples being prepared more efficiently, a more advanced, efficient, and high speed vortexer will be used instead of a sonicator for vortexing samples.
- X-ray analysis on 4/12/13 was solely run on the microsphere sample: 50:50 PVOH 130K 110% CEC Laponite w/ DMHXLBR.
- H2O had to be added to previous hydrogel samples prepared on 2/04/13 in order to leach out Rhodamine 6G dye and to soften up the hydrogels -- many of them were extremely too hard to cut into smaller cubes.
