Objective

  • Preparation of Samples
  • GC-MS Operation

Description

  1. Preparation of Samples
    • Samples were prepared from each of the reagents used in the reactions. Blanks were also prepared.
    • My samples included an Acetone blank as well as samples of Toluene and Styrene diluted in Acetone.
  2. GC-MS Operation
    • We were taught by Khyra how to use the GC-MS. We attempted to run a methanol blank to clean the column however the methanol did not even appear in the read out. It was suggested that we bake the oven at 270°C for 30 minutes in order to help clear out the column.
