Procedures

Malachite Green Calibration Curve

  • Concentrations: 0 ppm, 0.20 ppm, 0.50 ppm, 1.1 ppm, 1.4 ppm, 1.7 ppm, and 2.0 ppm
  • ppm = mg/L
  • 2000 ppm = 2000 mg MG/L * 0.050 L = 100 mg MG in 50 mL = 0.1 g
  • 2 ppm: (2000ppm)x=(2ppm)(50mL) > x = 0.05 mL = 50 uL
  • 1.7 ppm: (2ppm)x=(1.7ppm)(2mL) > x=1.7mL=1700 uL
  • 1.4 ppm: (2ppm)x=(1.4ppm)(2mL) > x=1400 uL
  • 1.1 ppm: (2ppm)x=(1.1ppm)(2mL) > x=1100 uL
  • 0.50 ppm: (2ppm)x=(0.5ppm)(2mL) > x=500 uL
  • 0.20 ppm: (2ppm)x=(0.2ppm)(2mL) > x=200 uL
  • water blank

<br.>

Up-Scale PVA-Alg-NaMT Synthesis

  • PVA: 3.999 g
  • Alginate: 0.64 g
  • NaMT: 0.401 g

New PVA-Alg-Halocite Synthesis

  • PVA: 1.021 g
  • Alginate: 0.16 g
  • Halloysite: 0.109 g
  • Calcium chloride:8.44 g
  • Citric acid ~12g (ran out!)

Notes

  • Forgot to watch up-scale PVA-Alg-NaMT
